About Oliver Murphy

Oliver Murphy BA HDE has an honours arts degree in Maths, Applied Maths and Ancient Greek from UCD. He has taught all three of his degree subjects to Leaving Cert Higher Level. In a career lasting over forty years, he has worked in Kevin Street Technical College, Belvedere College, St Vincent’s Castleknock College and the Institute of Education. In recent years he has developed and taught a module for Transition Year students on English grammar.

Oliver has published many school textbooks in his career. Most notable of these is Fundamental Applied Maths, the best-selling Applied Maths book in Ireland, and the Active Maths series for Junior and Leaving Cert students, written by a team of teachers at Folens.

​

In 1998, Oliver was the first winner of the Victor Graham Award for teachers of Applied Maths.
